Oxford不仅大学名声在外，Oxford的系列英语词典也具有很高的信誉。这个电子版的Oxford Talking Dictionary，综合了好几部权威的Oxford词典，比如The New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, The Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus British English Edition, The Concise Oxford Dictionary等等。这个电子词典也含有不少的百科性质的内容。比如在"大象"的词条下，就附着一个图片。
我本人非常喜欢这个词典，这是因为（1）词条丰富而权威；（2）所有的词条都配有发音，包括人名地名，这下子不用为不会读某些怪名字而发愁了--要知道，某些霸呀什么的，里面的许多词是没有读音的。而且它使用的音标系统，是我们熟悉的国际音标，而不是美国的词典常用的韦氏音标体系；（3）可以把所有的文本内容安装到硬盘上，这样，需要查单词的时候，不用插入光盘，就能运行词典程序了。说到这里想起来，Bookshelf也有一个选项，可以把它的英语词典和同义词词典两项内容安装到硬盘上，方便用户查找单词。当然了，如果你知道如何使用某些虚拟光驱软件，并且硬盘足够大的话，也可以像我一样，干脆把自己常用的参考书全部拷贝到硬盘上，岂不快哉！
